Dr. Stephanie Speicher is an associate professor and the Digital Fluency Faculty in Residence at Weber State University, specializing in digital pedagogy, curriculum design, and the creation of authentic learning communities. With over 30 years of experience in the field of education, she infuses compassion and heartfelt elements into teaching and learning while simultaneously revolutionizing the methods by which individuals and ideas converge across learning environments. As a champion and practitioner of human-centered learning, Stephanie has presented at international conferences and various colleges and universities worldwide and has collaborated with leading creative technology companies such as Adobe and Course Hero. Recently awarded the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award at her university, Stephanie enables others to share their wisdom and ideas in an environment that thrives on collaborative thought, effort, and action. Beyond her academic role, Stephanie serves as a legislative voice for innovation on the Utah State Charter School Board. Her dedication to revolutionizing teaching and learning extends from her roots as an Outward Bound instructor to teaching the educators of tomorrow, ensuring that all individuals feel interconnected in creative, collaborative spaces. Matthew Farber
Associate Professor of Educational Technology at the University of Northern Colorado and the co-director of the Gaming SEL Lab. He studies how playing and making games can foster empathy, compassion, perspective-taking, and ethical decision-making. He developed game-based lessons with Tracy Fullerton for her award-winning Walden, a game EDU. He has worked with UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), iThrive Games, and Games for Change. He was a contributing writer for Origin101, the official learning companion for Ava DuVernay’s critically acclaimed film Origin. Author of several books and articles, Dr. Farber currently writes for Edutopia, has been invited to the White House and to keynote for UNESCO, and has been interviewed by NPR, The Washington Post, APA Monitor on Psychology, EdSurge, The Denver Post, Fast Company, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.
Douglas К. Hartman
Prof. Dr. Douglas K. Hartman is a leading American scholar in the fields of educational technology and deep learning. His research offers a vision for how educators and leaders can cultivate a critical mindset in students, workers, and citizens during this age of digitalization.
Professor Hartman’s co-authored article “Онжылдық мектеп пен университет арасындағы кәсіби дамудың бірлескен жобасы: мектеп жағдайында АКТ интеграциясының салдары” in the journal PEDAGOGIKALYQ DIALOG provides Kazakh educators with a framework for cultivating a critical mindset, whether teaching online, on campus, or on-demand.
Dr. Hartman has been a keynote speaker at educational conferences across Kazakhstan during the last decade. At Michigan State University, he has been co-host to nearly 60 Bolashak-supported scholars, collaborating on projects related to technology, teaching, and learning.
He served as a Visiting Professor at Kazakh-American Free University in 2019. At present, he is a Visiting Professor at Gazi Üniversitesi in Ankara, Turkiye, working on a grant-supported project that examines the innovative and ethical use of AI and ICTs in teaching, learning, and research.
Andrey Komissarov
He is the founder of the NGO "Gamified Education" and the ideologist behind the "Education of the Future" community. He serves as the director of the "Human Development based on Data" department at University 20.35. He authored the Russian chapter in the book "AI in Education" (Alpina Publishers, 2021) and is a regular speaker at over 50 Russian and international conferences such as MMCO, Edcrunch, and Yandex Education. With over 15 years of experience, he specializes in higher and secondary education methodologies and has authored several widely used techniques. His teaching covers educational data engineering, pedagogical design, and educational gaming practices. He is a co-author of the digital transformation model for universities and the developer of the professional standard "Specialist in modeling, collecting, and analyzing digital footprint data (06.046). As a co-founder of the private school "Yuna" in Dubna, he emphasizes project-based learning, educational gaming principles, individual development trajectories, and practices of mutual mentoring. He consults with leading universities and private schools both in Russia and internationally.
Claire Bell
Bachelor of Education (BEd), Master of Arts (MA), National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). Claire has over 25 years of experience in the field of education. She specializes in inclusive education and working with children with special educational needs. Additionally, Claire has played a significant role in founding and leading several prestigious international schools in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.Claire began her teaching career in the United Kingdom, earning a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. She is a certified professional development trainer and a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). Previously, Claire held the position of Principal at a large British international school in Iraq. In this role, she also advised the Ministry of Education on inclusive education and support for children with special educational needs. In addition to this, Claire was the founding Principal of a group of international schools in Malaysia, the founding Principal of The Perse School in Singapore, the founding Principal of the Invictus International Programme in Thailand, and the Principal of Invictus Singapore.
Andrew Howard
Andy has a passion for helping people become the very best version of themselves that they can be and believes that there is an urgency to challenge the status quo in order to achieve this. With almost 35 years experience in education, he has also extensive experience in every aspect of supporting young people through their journey. For over a decade and a half, Andy has held leadership roles, developing innovative curricular programmes, assessment schemes designed for the 21st century, staff development and coaching systems and behaviour structures supporting all pupils. For the last 14 years, Andy has led settings in both the mainstream and specialist sector, working to improve the life chances for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. Having led SEMH settings for over a decade and successfully navigating schools through Ofsted, he has substantial experience of building capacity within specialist settings.
He is an experienced international speaker, having spoken on diverse topics, from the impact on technology in education, through to the need to change our perception of mental health for young people. The common theme always comes back to his belief in a need to think and act radically within education to adapt to the needs of young people today. He is a strong advocate for young people who have additional barriers to their best selves and is a champion for young people with SEMH needs.
Andy is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teachers, and a Distinguished Fellow of the International forums of Inclusive Practitioners (IFIP). He also has received a Global Inclusion Award from the IFIP for his work at building inclusive settings for young people.
Wenli Chen
Associate Professor and Head of the Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group at NIE, NTU. She is a specialized in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) and learning analytics. Dr Chen's school-based research projects address the challenges of transforming and enhancing teaching and learning and applying her research outcomes to impact school practices. Dr Chen has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at numerous international conferences and has received several Best Paper Awards. She was honored with the “Distinguished Researcher Award” by the Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education and the "Nanyang Education Award" from NTU. Presently, Wenli serves as the Editor-in-Chief for both the Journal of Computers in Education, and Learning: Research and Practice. She also serves as an Associate Editor for Instructional Science, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, and Research and Practice in Technology Enhanced Learning. Moreover, she is an editorial board member for the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. She is the executive committee member of the Asia Pacific Society of Computers in Education and the Global Chinese Society of Computers in Education. She also served as co-chair of the CSCL Community Committee of the International Society of the Learning Sciences from 2016 to 2021. She was the Program Committee Co-chair for the International Conference of CSCL in 2022, and the Co-chair for International Conference of the Learning Sciences 2016. She chaired the Program Committee for the International Conference on Computers in Education 2017, and the Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education 2014.
Makoto Yoshida
Makoto Yoshida, Ph.D. is one of the foremost experts on Lesson Study (a professional learning focused on development of teacher’s mathematics content knowledge, improvement of teaching, and student learning) in the U.S. His doctoral dissertation on lesson study in Japan, presented to the University of Chicago in 1999, helped to introduce lesson study in the United States and the world. He has spent many years studying mathematics textbooks and teaching from countries such as Japan, Singapore, China, and Thailand. He is also involved in projects such as translating Japanese mathematics textbooks (Grades 1 to 9) into English, and writing elementary mathematics textbooks in the U.S. and Brazil. In recent years, he has developed a strong interest in helping young students to learn and master basic math skills with understanding and enjoyment using specially designed activity cards. In 2017, he was President of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey (AMTNJ) and continues to provide guidance to this valuable organization.
William Jackson
Bill Jackson is a pioneering US educator who has played a vital role in introducing and promoting the collaborative professional learning model known as lesson study from Japan. Since the year 2000, Bill has worked alongside both American and Japanese educators to deeply understand and implement lesson study practices. With a career spanning over 40 years, Bill has served as a teacher, math coach, and academic director in US schools. His expertise and dedication have made him an influential figure in the field of education. Presently, Bill's passion lies in empowering educators worldwide by imparting the innovative math teaching methods from Japan and Singapore, along with promoting the concept of lesson study. Bill's contributions to the realm of math education include being the author of the widely acclaimed textbook series, Dimensions Math, which follows the highly effective Singapore math approach. Additionally, he is currently developing an exciting new textbook series based on the proven Japanese math principles, tailored specifically for students in Brazil.
Raimo Salo
Dr. Raimo Salo has more than twenty-five years of experience in the field of education. He has worked as a Teacher, IB PYP Coordinator, Coordinator for Minority Groups’ Education and Teacher Trainer. Dr. Salo has worked in the Ministry of Education in Namibia for two years and given training courses for educational professionals in more than ten countries. Dr. Salo has been a project manager in several national and international projects. Currently, his work as the Global Partnerships Manager includes training teachers, school leaders and teacher trainers. In addition, he is involved with planning, developing, and implementing professional in-service training programmes in the Oulu University Teacher Training School for the global markets. In his PhD studies Dr. Salo focused on professional competence development and capacity building.He studied the change management and the development of teachers' pedagogical competencies.
